Here is how I'm involved.
Service is at the heart of everything I do. I strive to make differences in the lives of people around me clearly and tangibly. To learn more about each organization I have partnered with, click on the accompanying picture.
Volunteer Activism![]() My work with the Red Cross has been very rewarding. Most recently, I've worked with the New Mexico chapter as a Disaster Action Team captain. Before this, I volunteered as a community disaster educator, creating, designing and implementing disaster education curricula and presentations into local elementary school systems. As a Disaster Action Team response member, I responded to local fires, tornadoes and floods, and assisted clients in need of immediate services. As Volunteer Supervisor, I coordinated several projects and events, ensured that tasks were completed efficiently and promptly and designed promotional materials. In April, 2011, I served as a Logistics Coordinator during widespread tornado damage, coordinating nearly 3,000 meals per day for one week.

Community Civic Engagement
![]() Because of a major need to provide an outlet for non-profit exposure and community involvement, I began developing plans for the first "Volunteer Rome" Community Volunteer Fair, held Saturday, February 26th, 2011. My main goal with this project was increasing exposure for community organizations and giving every organization a place to showcase their involvement, successes and volunteer opportunities, and to offer a place for everyone in the community to find ways to be involved. The first year was a great success, bringing 38 organizations and over 350 community members together. I created and organized the entire event, from designing the logo in Adobe Illustrator, creating a Facebook event page, flyer design in Adobe InDesign, event promotion, news releases, a "Save the Date" for organizations and letters and registration forms for participating non-profits. I spoke with a variety of media outlets, on three radio talk shows and networked the event with all Rome and Floyd County colleges and universities.

Disaster Preparedness and Response![]() During Summer, 2011, I was the Disaster Services Intern at the Hawaii Red Cross. During my time, I implemented disaster safety presentations for all islands within the chapter, creating a clear, consistent message of disaster prevention, preparation and response. I also worked with shelter location planning and became trained to respond to any disaster in any capacity. I created radio Public Service Announcements to promote disaster action team volunteer opportunities and created posts on various websites calling citizens into action.
